Trinidad: Toddler drowns as dad says prayers

(Trinidad Express) Police are investigating the death of a two-year-old girl.

The deceased is Safoorah Muhammed.

It is believed that the toddler drowned.

 
According to police reports, at about 4.30pm on Thursday, the toddler’s father left her playing with her cousins and other relatives in the hall area of his home along Pascal Road, Piparo.

He went to pray.

Upon returning five minutes later, he could not locate his daughter.

 
An alarm was immediately raised, a search was conducted.

The child was found in the pool of the residence.

Baby Safoorah was taken out of the pool and administered CPR.

The Emergency Health Services were contacted, however, when the toddler remained unresponsive, the family conveyed the child to the Chaguanas Health Facility.

Baby Safoorah was pronounced dead at 5.30p.m. that day.
