Trinidad builder shot dead at worksite

(Trinidad Express) A man not known to police was shot at a job site in Trincity yesterday.

Police said that around 3 p.m. the victim, Gregory Morales, 48, of Brazil Village, Arima, and other construction workers were on the job site of a mall under construction opposite Superpharm in Trincity when a gunman walked on to the site, found him and shot him once to the back of the head. He died on the spot.

The gunman then fled through the entrance to the site.

The other workers called the police and officers from the Northern Division Emergency Response Unit as well as the Arouca CID and the Region Two Homicide Bureau visited the scene.

 
No one on the scene wanted to say anything.

Morales’ body was eventually moved to the Port of Spain Mortuary and a post-mortem is expected to be done today at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park.

The murder toll stood at 302 up to last night while the toll for the same period last year was 394.
