(Trinidad Express) Muchas gracias por sus oraciones y por todo su apoyo.

This was the message of gratitude for the prayers, support and well wishes for her recovery from the Venezuelan teenager who was brutally attacked and left for dead last month.

On her Instagram account, the 18-year-old woman has posted a lengthy message saying ‘thank you’ to everyone whose prayers, thoughts, support and love had brought her back from the brink of death.

A paragraph of her post on her Instagram account, translated into English, read: “I want to tell you that prayers and love are powerful, and God has heard each of your prayers. To each of you I say ‘thank you’ for so much support, so much love. For all those beautiful and motivating words, the good energies and vibes. And above all things, thank you for your prayers (which) are powerful. I will be grateful all my life to all those people who took the time to ask God for my health and keep an eye on me from anywhere in the world. Thank you so much.”

There was a photo of one of her arms in a cast, clasped with three other hands.

In a subsequent posting, another paragraph translated, “During all these days that have been hardest of my life, it was very difficult to accept that all this is happening to me. The circumstances of my life I have to face them, but I never thought life would place me in such a complex one. I always knew I was strong and brave, but only until now I realise really how strong and brave I am.”

She also thanked her family and friends for supporting her through “this tough situation that has completely changed my life”.

The teenager added that she was still required to undergo surgery, and she has placed her faith in God for complete healing.

The empanada vendor and aspiring model, who was headed to San Fernando to sell empanadas on August 11, entered a car which she believed to be a ‘ph’ taxi.

Instead, she was beaten and assaulted and dumped in a gravel road at the side of M2 Ring Road.

She crawled to the main road and a taxi driver spotted her.

He and the passengers contacted police and ambulance.

The woman’s face and clothing were drenched in blood, and she bore stab wounds and cuts to her hands and face.

She was barely conscious and was hospitalised in critical condition.

A police officer and a security guard have since been charged and appeared in court for the alleged crime.
