Trinidad elections commission launches new ID card

(Trinidad Express) The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) launched a new-styled National Identification Card.

The EBC advised in a release that the new card was launched on Monday, September 28, 2020, and features multi-layered security against fraud.

Among the new features are a three dimensional holographic image of a hummingbird and hibiscus when the card is held up, as well as the image of a hummingbird and

 
hibiscus that appear under ultraviolet light.

The new card also features the holder’s date of birth on the inset image, as the card is moved around in the hand.

According to the Commission, the new ID card is “made of a polycarbonate substrate and incorporates a sophisticated array of security features to ensure multi-layered protection against the threat of counterfeit and fraud”.

“The new card is being introduced in line with current developments in election management and will be introduced on a phased basis,” the EBC advised.
