Four months after Terry Danraj died in a motor vehicle accident at La Penitence, the truck driver involved in the accident has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Twenty-two-year-old Eric Kennedy of Lot 153 West Ruimveldt, yesterday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts where he was charged with causing the death of 23-year-old Terry Danraj of Ogle Railway Line on the East Coast Demerara.

Kennedy, who was represented by attorney Bernard Da Silva, was subsequently granted bail in the amount of $300,000 and the matter was adjourned until October 7.

According to the police, on May 25th, Kennedy was driving a container truck which was proceeding in an easterly direction on the northern side of Sussex Street. He failed to stop while approaching the public road, which resulted in a collision with the Toyota Spacio bearing licence number PSS 1314 in which Danraj was a passenger.

Danraj succumbed to his injuries while he was at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
