Two die after Chateau Margot accident

Two men are now dead following an early morning collision along the Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Public Road yesterday.

Kevin Persaud, 24, a mechanic, of Lot 8 Goedverwagting, ECD, and Lionel Brower, 52, a security guard who resided at Lot 100 Bachelors Adventure, ECD, were both pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where they were taken after the accident.

The Guyana Police Force said the accident occurred around 6.45am.  At the time, Persaud was driving a car, PEE 3030, while Brower was the rider of motorcycle CJ 7915.

According to the police, their investigations revealed that Brower was proceeding east along the public road, while Persaud was heading in the same direction.

Persaud, who was allegedly speeding, collided with Brower, the police added.

As a result of the collision, Persaud lost control of his car, which plunged into a nearby canal, while the motorcycle ended up on the southern driveway of the road.

Brower was thrown some distance before he landed on the roadway.

Both Persaud and Brower sustained multiple injuries about their bodies. They were picked up and transported to hospital,  where they were pronounced dead.

The police investigation is still ongoing.
