Another of the three suspects said to be involved in the murder of Albouystown teen, Jumal Lancelot Park, is currently in custody after he surrendered to the police yesterday morning in the presence of his lawyer and relatives.

A police report had informed that the three suspects are ages 17, 18, and 19. However, according to Commander of Region Four, division ‘A’, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean, the suspects are 17 and 18 and one is in his twenties. It is the eldest suspect who was confirmed to have surrendered to the police yesterday morning, sometime before midday. The juvenile suspect is said to still be at large. The commander further shared that the sixteen-year-old died as a result of a stab wound to his heart along with trauma to the head.

Relatives of the murdered teen have also come forward saying that Park may have been robbed in the process of being beaten and stabbed. A sister of Park, Aneisa Park, told Stabroek News yesterday afternoon that her brother had $60,000 on his person, as well as a gold earring, both of which have since gone missing.

Aneisa said the money was a down payment for a second-hand motorcycle he was planning on purchasing on Monday when the incident occurred. She recalled their mother asking Park for change and he replied that he had none at the time and only had his down payment. However, Park before he left, promised their mother that he would visit her at her workplace during the day and bring her some money.

According to Aneisa, her brother suffered not just one, but multiple stabs with what was said to be an ice pick.

Meanwhile, the fifteen-year-old friend who the deceased Park was trying to stand up for after he was slapped by one of the suspects, is fearful for his life. Aneisa shared that the youngster lives in the same area and that she noticed someone wearing a face mask drive by the residence of the 15-year-old yesterday morning a number of times and looking in. The boy’s mother, she further said, paid them a visit yesterday and complained of the same incident to the family.

Aneisa had previously told this newspaper, “The problem started because he has a little 15-year-old friend and one the boys [the suspects] slapped his friend. He turn and tell him that the youth man smaller than them and they shouldn’t [take] advantage of [him] like that ‘or else the next time, me and you gon get wrong’. The boy he directed the remark to, responded, ‘Bet you I murder you’. He jump on he bike and go and bring he two other friends.”

She had recounted that when the three suspects returned, they began throwing bottles at her brother, who retaliated by throwing bricks at them. The suspects were then said to have scaled the fence and hit Park in his head with a piece of 2×4 lumber before stabbing him twice. Park then ran into a nearby house situated at the side of the wash bay, where he collapsed on the kitchen floor.

The police stated that the owner of the house, who heard the commotion, went and stood at his door in a bid to prevent the suspects from entering the house but he was stabbed in his left wrist by the eldest of the suspects. They then fled.

Jumal was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he was pronounced dead by a doctor at 10.30 am.

Police investigations continue.
