Three women charged with beating Tobago man

(Trinidad Guardian) Three women appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Virtual Court to answer charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, false imprisonment and robbery with aggravation of a 28 year old man

Dachel Ashby 19, a security guard, Jennieve Gardiner 28, unemployed and Reacheal Martinez 36, also security guard are all close relatives.

The trio, who resides at Windward Road Mt. St. George pleaded not guilty to the charges when they appeared before Magistrate Connors.

The allegation against them is that on October 7, 2020 they held the 28- year- old Roxborough man against his will at their home, stole his money while he was beaten with a belt.

He was naked during the ordeal. The entire incident was recorded and uploaded to social media and eventually went viral.

Ashby, who was slapped with three charges, was granted bail in the sum of $75,000.00 with a cash alternative of $10,000, while Gardiner and Martinez were both granted bail in the sum of $60,000 with a cash alternative of $8,000

The women were ordered by the court to have no interaction with the victim and to stay 100 feet away, as a condition of their bail.

Two warrants have since been issued for a fourth person.

Constable Adams, of the Criminal Investigations Department, laid the charges.
