Two more COVID deaths, 30 new cases

Two new COVID-19 deaths were yesterday recorded as 30 more cases of the virus were also reported.

The Ministry of Health revealed that Guyana’s death toll as a result of the virus has increased to 128 with the recording of the two new deaths. Those fatalities were identified as a 74-year-old woman from Region Four and a 57-year-old man from Region One.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 dashboard from the Ministry of Health revealed that 30 new cases were recorded which increased the country’s total positive cases to 4,238. The new cases were recorded in four of the country’s ten administrative regions, with 25 being recorded in Region Four, one in Region Three and two each in Regions Five and Six.

Currently, there are 837 active cases in the country, 66 in institutional isolation and 771 in home isolation. Nine persons are also currently patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.  Meanwhile, 23 persons are in institutional quarantine.

Twenty-two more persons have since recovered from the virus in the country which increased the total recoveries from the virus in the country to 3,264.
