Trinidad: Two men chop each other in dispute over woman

(Trinidad Express) Two men chopped each other following an argument near the home of a woman known to both of them.

At around 8.30 a.m. on Friday that a 39-year-old of Sangre Chiquito was near the Manzanilla residence of his former common-law wife when he had an altercation with a 36-year-old man.

Both men left and while the 39-year-old was walking along Eastern Main Road, he said he was struck with a blade by the other man.

There was a struggle and both men dealt each other chop wounds about their bodies.

They were taken to the Manzanilla Health Facility and transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital. The 39-year-old suffered injuries to his abdomen, left shoulder and scalp.

Sgt Racha is continuing enquiries.

Across in Erin, a fisherman escaped injury after he was shot at on Friday night.

It was around 7.40 p.m. that he was parking his Volkswagen Jetta when two men exited nearby bushes and began shooting in his direction. The 26-year-old fisherman ran. Officers were contacted and constables Patrick and Harrington recovered five spent shells at the scene. A projectile was also found in the door on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Investigations continue.
