The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) under the strategic stewardship of Hilbert Foster, has forged another sterling bond by positioning Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat as a Patron of the board on Saturday.

“The BCB today [Saturday] created history with the induction of its first-ever Honorary Patron. Minister of Natural Resources Mr. Vickram Bharat, was inducted as the Patron during an impressive but simple ceremony at the St Francis Community Center,” the board informed via a press statement.

The Minister was sashed by BCB Secretary Angela Haniff and received a trophy, a medal, and a framed certificate along with his list of duties as the Patron.

The new Patron wasted no time and got into his role by donating a large number of cricket gear for young cricketers and also a whopping one million dollars to the board.

Meanwhile, BCB President Hilbert Foster, at the event, provided a comprehensive report of Berbice Cricket and unveiled the board’s plans for the future as the BCB strives to take the sport to a higher level.

The new Paton was high in his praise of the outstanding work of the board and stated that as a Berbician he was committed to working earnestly to ensure that every talent is fulfilled and that enough tournaments are organised. He also pledged that he will work to see the realization of the proposed semi-professional cricket league in Berbice.
