Patterson says annual cost of gov’t to be $584m

APNU+AFC Member of Parliament, David Patterson  yesterday said that the annual cost of the new government will be $584m – more than the comparable figure for the former APNU+AFC government which had attracted criticism.

Patterson who will be the Chair of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee listed the annual expenditure for various categories:

Prime Minister – $34.5m

Vice-President – $24m

18 senior ministers – $427.2m

Four Junior Ministers  $84.2m

One Deputy Speaker $3.6m

One Chief Whip $3.6m

Two parliamentary secretaries $6.8m

This he said totaled up to an annual cost of $584m

He cited the source of his information as Parliament Office. He said the figure excludes the costs for ministerial advisors.

Patterson, the former Minister of Public Infrastructure asked where are the voices of critics who had attacked the previous APNU+AFC government for the cost of its administration.
