One more COVID fatality recorded

Guyana’s COVID-19 fatalities now stand at 147 after a new death was recorded yesterday.

This increased the country’s COVID death toll to 147. In a press release the ministry identified the fatality as an 87-year-old man from Region Six.

Meanwhile, some 35 new cases of the virus were recorded which increased the total number of confirmed positive cases in the country to 5,189. The new cases were recorded after some 353 more persons were tested for the virus and as a result the total number of persons tested in the country now stands at 28,160.

The new cases were recorded in six of the country’s ten administrative regions: 15 in Region Ten, 9 in Region Six, 8 in Region Four and one case each in Regions One, Three and Seven. As a result there are now 838 active cases, 72 of which are in institutional isolation and another 766 in home isolation. The number of persons in the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit  has decreased to seven.

There are currently 36 persons in institutional quarantine even as some 170 persons have recovered from the virus, increasing the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,204.
