Forty new COVID cases

Forty new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded.

This was revealed in the Ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard which indicated that the 40 new cases that were recorded increased the total number of positive confirmed cases in the country to 5,276. The new cases were recorded after some 336 more persons were tested.

According to the regional distribution of the COVID-19 cases in the country, new cases were recorded in eight of the ten administrative regions; 4 cases in Region Four, 26 in Region Six, 3 in Region Nine, 2 cases each in Region’s Seven and Ten and 1 case each in Regions Two, Three and Eight.

As a result there are currently 868 active cases with 100 of those persons in Institutional Isolation and 768 in approved home isolation. Some seven persons are patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

Forty-nine persons are in institutional quarantine even as some 10 new recoveries were recorded which increased the total number of recovered cases in the country to 4,252.
