34 more COVID-19 cases recorded as Berbice sees spike

The Ministry of Health yesterday reported 34 new COVID-19 cases as well as a significant reduction in the number of patients in the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard revealed that the 34 new cases that were recorded increased the total number of positive confirmed cases to 5,310. The new cases were reported after some 276 more persons were tested for the virus, which increased the total number of persons tested to 29,154.

According to the regional distribution of the 34 new COVID-19 cases, 25 of them were recorded in Region Six, which represents a significant increase and spike in cases in the region, while 6 were recorded in Region Four, 2 In Region Three and 1 in Region Ten.

As a result there are now 885 active cases in the country, 83 of which are in institutional isolation while another 802 are in approved home isolation. The number of patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care unit has decreased to four, showing a significant decrease when compared to previous days.
