Cops arrest Linden miner after Itaballi checkpoint ganja find

Police yesterday arrested a 22-year-old miner, of Block 22 Linden, after he admitted to being the owner of a bag in which just over one pound of cannabis was found during a search at Itaballi Police Checkpoint.

The Guyana Police Force said that ranks at the checkpoint conducted a search of a truck and its occupants.

“During the search ranks found a black plastic bag which, when opened, contained three scotch taped plastic parcels and 55 small ziplock plastic parcels. The parcels contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis,” the police explained in a press release.

The suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to 545 grammes (equivalent to just over 1 pound). 

Accordinng to the police, the Linden miner admitted ownership of the bags, resulting in hois arrest. He was in custody at Bartica Police Station awaiting charges up to last evening.
