34 more COVID-19 cases recorded

Thirty-four new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Friday.

According to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, the 34 new cases increased Guyana’s total number of positive confirmed cases to 6,076.

The new cases were confirmed from the testing of 381 more persons for the virus. Thus far, a total of 35,367 persons have been tested for the virus in the country.

The additional cases were recorded in six of the country’s ten administrative regions again with Region Ten reporting the majority of the 34 new cases. Two cases each were recorded in Region One and Region Seven, three in Region Three, six in Region Four, five in Region Five, and 16 cases in Region Ten.

Up to yesterday there were 623 active cases in the country, 35 of which are in institutional isolation while some 588 are in approved home isolation. Six persons remained patients at the COVID-19 intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Nineteen persons were in institutional quarantine. The death toll remained at 159.
