A message for rigger-rights supporters

Dear Editor,

I notice that some supporters and surrogates – still hopeful relentless riggers who failed for five months – took to Facebook to try to “rejoice” over the riotous takeover of the American Capitol/Parliament precincts and building on Wednesday of this week.

Essentially, they gloated that “the world’s largest democracy” was made a laughing stock” and that shame recuses America from preaching and telling other states about democratic norms – including periodic elections. (Actually, India is the world’s “biggest”, most populous democracy where more than one billion souls are exposed to human/civil rights and freedoms – inclusive of the right to vote and have their votes counted fairly. The U.S.A is supposedly the world’s “most powerful democracy” referring to material wealth and global influence.)

What occurred in America’s Capital Washington D.C. – and in its capitol, its Parliament – is woefully inexcusable and just an evil product of Donald Trump’s excesses over his electoral defeat. Just as the PNC Brigadier has done here, Trump has implanted in the minds and souls of his seventy–plus million loyal supporters, that the recent U.S. elections were fraudulently manipulated against him and his Republicans.

Now frankly speaking for myself it was/is evident that, in some counties in some of the fifty states, some amount of electoral engineering – no validity of signatures, thousands of mail–in votes not properly authenticated  etc – did happen. But not enough at all to change or alter the eventual outcome whereby Mr Biden gained millions more of the popular vote and a runaway in their Electoral College. And did not Trump Republicans make significant gains in the Congress at those very elections? Back in this Green Land of Guyana, the Brigadier’s PNC will prosecute its case about alleged fraud during and after our March 2020 elections when its Election Petition is heard. (Watch for the aggrieved party to expose its own statement of polls (SOP’s). Ho-ho.

So I caution all rigger-rights supporters: if rigging ever succeeds, no one’s future votes will be guaranteed validity. Trump’s misled supporters’ action on Wednesday could never mean that America – as well as our Caribbean Community (CARICOM) –  must not insist  on democratic behaviour from countries it assist –  won’t the gloaters accept new president Biden and his democratic credentials?

But hey! If those rigger–sympathisers feel disappointed with democracy – stop Guyana from asking for or accepting America assistance. And encourage your thousands of U.S.A–based families to return to their beloved, oil-real Guyana. Ho-ho-ho.

Yours faithfully,

Allan Arthur Fenty
