Reference is made to your article `Notables who passed away in 2020’ and I would like to add a notable name which you may have inadvertently missed.
Mr George Tancredo, legendary balata artisan and indigenous personality of Nappi Village in the Central Rupununi tragically passed away in October 2020.
He was famed for creating beautiful craftwork from balata latex which is the sap from the bulletwood tree. Such was his talent that he represented the country both locally and internationally at craft shows and was once even invited to Buckingham Palace in England.
