Forty-three new COVID-19 cases reported

Forty-three new COVID-19 cases were yesterday reported after 195 more persons were tested for the virus.

This was presented in the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that the 43 new cases increased Guyana’s total number of positive confirmed cases to 6,696. The 195 persons who were tested during the last testing cycle increased the total number of persons tested to 42,327.

According to the regional distribution of the COVID-19 cases, the new cases were recorded in eight of the ten administrative Regions: two cases each were recorded in Regions One, Two, Three and Five, 15 new cases in Region Four, 11 in Region Six, while four were recorded in Region Seven and five in Region Ten.

Further there are now 459 active cases, 57 of which are in institutional isolation facilities while 402 are in approved home isolation. Four persons are now patients at the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

The Ministry’s dashboard also showed that 30 persons are currently in institutional quarantine and 16 more persons have recovered from the virus, increasing the country’s total recoveries to 6,063.
