Twenty-three new COVID cases recorded

Twenty-three new COVID-19 cases were recorded yesterday after some 262 more persons were tested for the virus.

This is according to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, which showed that the 23 new cases increased the total number of confirmed positive cases in the country to 6,931 while a total of 44,500 persons have been tested in the country so far.

The new cases were recorded in five of Guyana’s ten administrative regions; one new case each in Regions One and Ten, two cases in Region Three, 10 new cases in Region Four and 9 in Region Five. As a result there are now 584 active cases in the country, 551 of whom are in home isolation while 33 are in institutional isolation. Four persons remain patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

The dashboard also showed that there are 19 persons in institutional quarantine even as eight more persons have recovered from the virus. As a result a total of 6,173 persons have recovered from the virus in Guyana.
