Soesdyke biker dies in McDoom crash

A Soesdyke man died on Wednesday after he lost control of  his motorbike and collided with a vehicle on the McDoom Public Road.

Dead is 27-year-old Steven Armstrong of Hill Foot Soesdyke, Linden Highway. The police yesterday said that Armstrong was pronounced dead some 15 minutes after the accident which occurred at around 17:30 hrs on the McDoom Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

According to the police release, Armstrong was proceeding in a northern direction on the McDoom Public Road on a motorcycle #CK7037  when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with an articulated vehicle which was at the time passing an offloading minibus.

After the collision, he fell and suffered several injuries to his head and body, the police said. It was reported that Armstrong was in a semi-conscious state when he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens. He was pronounced dead at 19:45 hrs.

According to the report, no trace of alcohol was found on the breath of  the driver of the articulated vehicle or the driver of the minibus. The police are still investigating the accident.
