CHATTOGRAM, Bangladesh,  CMC – West Indies suffered a chastening 3-0 whitewash after going down to Bangladesh by 120 runs in the third One-Day International here today.

Asked to chase a challenging 298 for victory at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, the Caribbean were well short of their target after being dismissed for 177 in the 45th over.

The total was their highest of the three-match series following scores of 122 and 148 in Dhaka.

Rovman Powell top-scored again with 47 while Nkrumah Bonner got 31 and Raymon Reifer, 27, but West Indies lost wickets steadily during the run chase and never mounted a serious challenge.

Fast bowlers Mohammad Saifuddin (3-51) and Mustafizur Rahman (2-24) did the bulk of the damage while off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz was brilliant, taking two for 18 from his 10 overs.

Choosing to bowl first earlier, West Indies missed vital chances in the field as Bangladesh piled up 297 for six off their 50 overs.

Captain Tamim Iqbal, wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Mahmudullah all scored 64 while Shakib-al-Hasan provided the fourth half-century of the innings with 51.

For the first time in the series, West Indies started strongly to claim the first two hosts wickets with just 38 runs on the board before a strong of partnerships erased any advantage they held.

First, Tamim put on 93 for the third wicket with Shakib who then paired with Mushfiqur to post a further 48 for the fourth wicket.

Shakib departed in the 37th over but Mushfiqur stayed around with Mahmudullah to add 72 for the fifth wicket.

New ball seamer Alzarri Joseph (2-48) and left-arm pacer Raymon Reiefer (2-61) claimed two wickets apiece.

West Indies lost the opening ODI by six wickets and the second ODI by seven wickets.
