Guyana records 175th COVID fatality

Guyana has recorded another COVID-19 fatality even as some 34 new cases of the virus were yesterday recorded.

According to the Ministry of Health, the latest death increased the country’s total COVID-19 fatalities to 175. The latest victim was identified as a 65-year-old man from Region Five.

Meanwhile, 34 new cases were recorded which increased the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 7,380. These came after some 262 more persons were tested and as a result increased the total number of persons tested for the virus in the country to 47,358.

The new cases were recorded in six of Guyana’s ten Administrative Regions; one case each in Regions One, Five and Ten, seven new cases in Region Three, 21 in Region Four and three in Region Seven.

There are now 712 active cases, 49 of which are in institutional isolation while another 663 are in home isolation. Meanwhile some six persons remain patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
