Amesha Thuesday Grant and Amela Latahsa Thuesday – twin sisters – yesterday gave birth to their babies 13 minutes apart at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital creating history at the regional institution.

Cassidy Miracle Grant, a girl, arrived at 9.10 am, while Myron Kingsley Rajgopaul arrived at 9.23 am yesterday. Both babies weighed just over 3 kilogrammes. They were both delivered by Dr Rafael Roitor and Midwife Leah Clarke.

The sisters were admitted to the regional hospital on February 23rd, when Guyana celebrated its 51st Republic Anniversary.

In a release yesterday on the Regional Democratic Council, Region Six, Facebook page, it was noted that Regional Health Officer, Dr Vishalya Sharma and Medical Superintendent, Dr Vasana Henry, were thrilled that the women choose the New Amsterdam Public Hospital to handle their deliveries.

Yesterday, the Regional Health Services provided the mothers with hampers.

Amela took to social media to thank God for ensuring that they both had a safe delivery with healthy babies. She added, that the two babies, cousins, will be celebrating their birthday every year on the same day, like her and her twin would be.

She also thanked the Regional Health Services for the hampers. “We appreciate everything that happen today,” she said.
