President Irfaan Ali has granted Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo the right to oversee the design (including signing) and issuances of Guyana’s currency notes.
In an Order dated February 25, Ali refers to Jagdeo as having “specific oversight responsibility for finance” and grants him the power in keeping with Section 23 of the Bank of Guyana Act.
The section prescribes that the denominations, inscriptions, form, material and other characteristics of currency notes and coins shall be determined by the Bank with the approval of the Minister.
