GRA announces new procedure for exports examination, scanning

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced a new procedure for the examination of exports and scanning.

In a notice in today’s Stabroek News, the GRA said that it has introduced a “mandatory online procedure to make bookings for exports examination and scanning”.

It urged all exporters, licensed customhouse brokers and users of the ASYCUDA World System to take note.

The GRA said that the new booking procedure is intended to ease delays and improve the timeliness of the dissemination of information from the GEU to other Border Regulatory Agencies (BRA).

In recent months there have also been serious concerns that drug traffickers have been able to defy the examination and scanning system.

The notice said that all persons are now required to submit an online booking reference to the Goods Examination Unit (GEU) via email address: exportbookings@gra.gov.gy.  Submissions must be made 24 hours prior to the examination request.

The online booking reference must be made after an export e-SAD is tendered and payments have been made. The GEU and other BRA will view the email and an acknowledgement will be dispatched confirming the date and time of the examination.

Exporters and brokers are being reminded that it is compulsory that the respective BRA complete their task in the automated system and the declaration is profiled green by the agency before making the online booking.
