Man in hospital after collision at Versailles

Twenty-one-year-old Navindra Persaud is now hospitalised at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH), after his vehicle collided with a lorry while attempting to overtake another one at Versailles Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

According to a police report, Persaud a resident of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, collided with 27-year-old Krishna Jodha of Gap Road La Jalousie, WCD, at about 3.15 am yesterday.

The report stated that Persaud was allegedly speeding along the Versailles Public Road when he attempted to overtake a vehicle proceeding in the same direction and ended up in the path of the lorry.

Persaud was picked up in an unconscious state by the police and public-spirited citizens and transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was examined by a doctor on duty.

He was subsequently admitted to the Emergency Unit in a stable condition.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the lorry. No trace of alcohol was found on his breath.

Investigations are ongoing.
