Wismar businessman arrested over gun, ammo

A businessman who allegedly threatened the mother of his child, was on Tuesday arrested after he was found with a firearm and ammunition in a haversack he was carrying.

According to the police, Toriano Jeffers, 47, of Lot 556 Block 22, Wismar, Linden, was arrested at about 6pm.

The police stated that following a report of threats made by the accused to the mother of his child, ranks visited his home. Upon the arrival of the police, Jeffers attempted to flee but was apprehended.

He was then searched and ranks found one  .32 silver and black Lorcin L390 pistol (serial number 243966) along with one magazine inserted and two rounds of .38 ammunition in his haversack.

Jeffers was subsequently arrested and taken to the MacKenzie Police Station, along with the items found.

He remains in custody pending charges.
