Canefield man detained after allegedly pushing two cops

Lawmen on Sunday evening arrested a Canefield hire car driver after he  allegedly pushed two senior police officers into a drain in New Amsterdam.

Further, 17 other persons were arrested at the location for breaching the COVID-19 restrictions in place.

According to information gathered, around 11.30 pm on Sunday, a Joint Services patrol in New Amsterdam noticed a large gathering imbibing at a location.

The persons were not wearing masks at the time. As such, the ranks were making efforts to place those gathered under arrest when the  hire car driver began behaving disorderly.

Despite warnings from the police, the man allegedly continued with his disorderly behaviour and pushed a corporal into a nearby drain.

After the man noticed an Inspector recording the incident he became more angry and lashed the cellphone from her hand after which he also pushed her into the said drain.

The police then arrested the man and placed the others into custody pending an investigation.
