Campbellville man charged with forging driver’s licence

A bus service assistant was yesterday charged with forging a driver’s licence and later uttering the alleged, forged licence to the police.

Duncan Anthony Beaton, 26, of Lot 1 First Avenue, Campbellville, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charges to him.

It is alleged that between March 1, 2018 and March 26, 2021, at Camp Street, Georgetown, he conspired with a person or persons unknown to forge a driver’s licence in favour of himself.

It is also alleged that on March 26, at Church Street, Georgetown, with intent to defraud, he uttered a driver’s licence in favour of himself, to a police officer, purporting same to be issued by the Guyana Revenue Authority.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was placed on a total of $30,000 bail. He will make his next appearance on April 26.
