Four more COVID-19 deaths, 97 new cases

The Ministry of Health yesterday said that four more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 262.

The latest fatalities are three males: a 67-year-old and a 76-year-old from Region Four and an 86-year-old from Region 10; and a 45-year-old woman also from Region 10. They died while receiving care at the ministry’s facility.

Meanwhile, the 97 new cases that were recorded increased the total number in the country to 11,374. The cases came after some 790 more persons were tested for the virus thus increasing the total number of tests done to 102,053.

The new cases were recorded in seven regions; one new case each in Regions One and Five, 20 cases in Region Three, 55 in Region Four, five cases each in Regions Two and Six and ten in Region Ten. As a result there are now 1,219 active cases in the country, 76 of whom are in institutional isolation while some 1,143 are in home isolation. Some 84 more persons have recovered which increased the total number of recovered cases to 9,880.
