Sans Souci in huge win over Noitgedacht

Sans Souci defeated Noitgedacht Sports Club by 141 runs while Maria’s Pleasure and Sans Souci Jaguars also recorded victories in the Wakenaam Cricket Badri Prasad Memorial T20 competition.

Playing at the Essequibo Island’s premier facility, the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, San Souci opted to bat after winning the toss and piled up a massive 207 for six before returning to rout Noitgedacht for 66 in 14 overs.

Sans Souci’s batting was piloted by Seon Venture who raced to an unbeaten 60 which was decorated by three sixes and five fours. Tamesh Charritar chipped in with 38 while cameos from Devon Rambaran (21) and Cleon Venture (20) were crucial. Jamal Browne bagged three wickets to finish as the most successful bowler for Noitgedacht.

In reply, Venture returned to grab a hat-trick as himself and his brother, Seon, each ended with three wickets for six runs.

In the second encounter, Maria’s Pleasure got the better of Zeelandia by 36 runs. Maria’s Pleasure chalked up 164 for seven from their allotted 20 overs as Dreshaun Phillips top scored with 47. He was supported by Marsh Singh (23) and Bernard Lewis (16).

Zeelandia were bowled out for 128 in 18 overs as Kennard Lewis grabbed a hat-trick to end with 5-18. Navishaul Pooran played the lone hand for Zeelandia’s batting with 36.

Over in Belle Plaine at G Square Cavaliers Ground the hosts suffered a 79-run defeat at the hands of Sans Souci Jaguars.

Cavaliers, in pursuit of 177 for victory were restricted to 97 for eight as Beesham Moses returned 4-10 from his four overs. He was supported by Vickey Jairam and Essequibo youth player, Gladewin Henry Jr., who claimed two wickets each. Beesham Bhagpattie and Komesh Sudin made 19 and 18 runs respectively.

Earlier, the visitors managed 176 for six with Moses scoring 56, laced with one six and seven fours. He was supported by Zameer Zaman who stroked nine boundaries on his way to 44 and Prem Persaud with 20.
