Lawrence Brummell, the man who murdered his partner Nicola Wilson of D’Urban Street on Saturday night then drank poison, died yesterday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital while receiving medical attention.

Brummell, 50, of Lot 1975 Williamstad Street, Festival City, North Ruimveldt murdered Wilson after he was reportedly told by the woman that he could not accompany her to her sister’s birthday party as he was not welcome there. She sustained at least 14 stab wounds

According to a police report, Brummell also tried to stab a relative of the woman who had attempted to rescue her from the stabbing.  The relative succeeded in barring the blow and Brummell then escaped in his  212 car.

Police investigations further revealed that after the incident the suspect returned to his home in Festival City where he confessed to his nephew about committing the act. The nephew also reported to the police that Brummell informed him that he had ingested poison during which time he began to give instructions on how some of his personal belongings should be distributed.

Despite his refusal, the suspect was taken to the hospital by relatives where he was admitted and was under police guard until his death.
