Unbeaten Queenstown U19 marches into final

Queenstown marched into the final of the Central Essequibo Cricket Committee 40-overs-a-side U19 tournament by beating Reliance by 93 runs in round three setting up a finals clash with the winner of today’s semi-final between Reliance and Bacchus Bulls.

The third-round clash saw Reliance winning the toss and inserting Queenstown who posted 184 for nine from their allotted overs. In reply, Reliance were bowled out for 91 in 17 overs.

Ronaldo Scouten anchored the innings with a composed 55 which featured five sixes and three fours. He was supported by Azizi Christiani who made 31, decorated with four sixes, the pair adding 94 for the fourth wicket.

The platform was set early on with Carl Gilgeous hitting three fours and two sixes on his way to 29 at the top of the order while Jean Marc chipped in with 18 not out.

Shivo Seurattan picked up 4-37 from 6.1 overs, including the wicket of Scouten. Ramraj Bhopaul supported with 2-21 from three overs.

In the chase, Roy Vansluytman (2-27) got the early breakthrough before Wazim Mohammed continued the rout taking 4-20 while Omavi Chan bagged 3-18.

Reliance had little success with the bat. Lance Roberts played the lone hand, carving three fours and three sixes on his way to 45. No other batsman reached double figures.

Bacchus Bulls ended the preliminary rounds in second place with two wins while Reliance was  third with a solitary victory.
