Torrential rainfall over the Essequibo Coast yesterday morning forced the two highly anticipated Central Essequibo Cricket Committee tournaments to be rescheduled.

The day’s action was expected to see Bacchus Bulls under-19s taking on hosts, Reliance Hustlers in the semifinal of the 40-overs-a-side youth tournament from 09.30 hours with the winner moving on to play undefeated Queenstown Under-19s in the final.

The Imam Bacchus Ground was listed to feature two matches with Queenstown and Pomeroon Oil Mill in the first match followed by Bacchus Bulls locking horns with Young Achievers.

At Walton Hall, Devonshire Castle and United Warriors were booked for the first match with the hosts Walton Hall and Teneze Farm set to face each other.

Pomona was set to feature clashes between Rising Star and Rising Sun with Aurora Knight Riders and Sparwin clashing afterwards.

At Reliance, Reliance Hustlers were pitted against Charity and Reliance Sports Club was expected to play Cotton Field Strikers.

According to President of the Central Essequibo Cricket Committee, Trevis Simon, it was disappointing that the rain came but noted it was beyond control.

In a correspondence, Simon noted that it was after discussions and assessment of the venues; the tournaments were postponed until further notice.
