One more COVID death, 134 new cases

Another COVID-19 death was recorded yesterday pushing up the fatality toll to 417.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which stated that the latest fatality was recorded on June 8th and was identified as a 79-year-old man from Region Four.

Meanwhile, 134 new cases were recorded thus increasing the country’s total confirmed cases to 17,939. A total of 164,622 tests have been done to date.

The new cases were recorded in nine of the country’s ten administrative regions: Region One (2 cases), Region 2 (3 cases), Region Three (9 cases), Region Four (49 cases), Region Five (9 cases), Region Six (37 cases), Region Seven (1 case), Region Nine (16 cases) and Region Ten (8 new cases).

There are now 1,665 active cases, 99 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,566 are in home isolation. There are 20 patients at the COVID-19 ICU even as some 209 more persons have recovered from the virus. Guyana’s total recovered cases now stand at 15,837.
