The police are continuing to investigate the death of Woodrow John Lepps, who was found at an abandoned building at Victoria, East Coast Demerara.

Police Commander of Region 4(C) Khali Pareshram, when contacted, confirmed that no arrest has been made.

Lepps, also known as ‘Dee,’ 42, who suffered from epilepsy, was discovered around 9 am on May 31st.

According to a Guyana Police Force release, Lepps was last seen by his sister on May 30th, when he visited her home and collected breakfast, before returning to his regular dwelling place.

However, on the following day, the release stated, the sister received information that Lepps was found dead in the abandoned building with what appeared to be a wound to the left side of his head.

His remains were transported to the CC Nicholson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His remains were subsequently taken to the Lyken Funeral Parlour to await a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, another sister of the deceased, who gave her name as Bibi, told this newspaper that Lepps was struck to his head.

According to other residents of the village, she said, Lepps and a mentally ill man were involved in a fight prior to his death.

Bibi noted that Lepps did odd jobs but described him as a loving and kind individual.

A candlelight vigil was held last week Sunday in his memory.
