Mark D’Oliveira was yesterday charged with the murder of Kwal Dindon, who was stabbed following an altercation at a birthday party at Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, Georgetown last weekend.

D’Oliveira, also known as ‘Buck Boy,’ of Lot 42 Shell Road, Kitty, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in a Georgetown Court, where the charge was read to him.

It is alleged that between June 19 and June 20, 2021, at Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, D’Oliveira murdered Dindon, also known as ‘Coolie Boy.’

He was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until July 16 when a report on the case will be given to the court.

According to police, Dindon, 23, along with two of his friends, attended a birthday party at Sandy Babb Street.

The report said an argument allegedly started by Dindon ensued between him and the suspect, resulting in Dindon pushing the suspect to the ground.

The report further stated that the suspect got up and ran along Sandy Babb Street while Dindon armed himself with a piece of wood and along with his friends pursued the suspect.

Dindon and his friends after catching up with the man, dealt him several lashes about his body, which caused the suspect to retaliate by pulling out a knife from his pants’ waist and stabbing Dindon in the right side of his upper back. Dindon then ran into a nearby yard, where he fell to the ground in an unconscious state.

The Georgetown Public Hospital’s ambulance was summoned and Dindon was taken to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.
