Second suspect held for questioning over Swan murder

Adolph Joseph, also known as ‘Black Boy,’ who was wanted for questioning about the murder of Swan resident Roy Ross, was arrested in Mahdia on Sunday.

Ross, 24, of Swan Village, Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, is believed to have been killed sometime between 11pm on Easter Sunday and 6am on Easter Monday.

Police, in a press release, have confirmed that Joseph was handed over to Regional Division 4B following his arrest.

A family member, who asked not to be named, previously stated that a neighbour observed that a door of Ross’s house was open when he arrived on the night before the man was found dead. According to the family member, the neighbour stated that the door was still open on Monday morning, which led to him investigating and he discovered Ross lying motionless on the floor in his home.

The family member added that another occupant of the same neighbour’s home stated that she heard sounds coming from Ross’ home on Sunday night but thought it was a fight between Ross and his wife. The woman said she later saw two persons fully clothed in black exiting the deceased’s yard and heading towards the bushes across from his house.

Nothing was reported missing from the home.

One man, 23-year-old Ewert Calistro, who police say confessed to the crime, was remanded to prison after he was charged with the murder of Ross.
