Fifty-three new cases of COVID-19 recorded

The Ministry of Health  yesterday said that 53 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded. Deaths from the pandemic remained at 530.

The Ministry’s  COVID-19 dashboard showed that the new cases have increased Guyana’s total case count to 22,234. These new cases were reported after some 1,693 more tests were done, and puts the total number of tests done to date at 220,558.

According to the regional distribution of cases, new cases were reported in six of the ten administrative regions, with regions Three and Five reporting one new case each, Region Four with 23 new cases, Region Six with 9 new cases, Region Nine with 17 new cases, and Region Ten with 2 cases.

There are currently 922 active cases, 68 of whom are in institutional isolation while 854 are in home isolation. Nine persons are currently patients at the COVID-19 ICU while 108 more persons have recovered from the virus. The total number of recovered cases in the country now stands at 20,773.
