We need mobile services at Paramakatoi

Dear Editor,

We, the residents of Paramakatoi, humbly request that the mobile giants, either Digicel or Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) consider providing mobile service to the Village of Paramakatoi. Paramakatoi consists of the main village and two satellite villages with a population of over 2500 residents, which would benefit tremendously from the provision of your service. We would no longer be dependent on weather condition and the availability of electricity or radio calls to communicate with other parts of the country and the world. Nor would we have the financial strain of paying thousands of dollars for phone calls. Additionally, the neighbouring villages, Kato and Tuseneng would be able to receive and utilize the service. Paramakatoi and Kato which both have dormitories containing about 400 students who can benefit by being able to communicate with their parents directly. Further, as many university are now offering online courses, the service provided can boost never received opportunities for students to access education enjoyed by others. We cannot emphasise enough, the number of benefits that this initiative would have in education, health, social well-being and employment. The community is ready accommodate any request for land for the construction of any required structure. We humbly urge that you strongly consider our request. Thanking you for your kind consideration.

Sincerely,

La Cruiz Joe
