The status of the Specialty Hospital and other issues

Dear Editor,

Kindly publish the following in your daily newspaper.

A) The Specialty Hospital.

Could the present Minister of Health say what is the current status regarding the specialty hospital? In 2018 I asked and the then Minister of Health replied stating that the gov’t was trying to locate a piece of land on the East Coast of Demerara to build the hospital. The specialty hospital is an arrangement between the Gov’t of India and the Guyana Gov’t.

B)  Local tradesmen.

For a long time now most of the tradesmen in Guyana has one or more of the shortcomings stated below:

1) Dishonest in their dealings with clients by taking money advances in order to purchase materials and not showing up with the materials

2) Unreliable in meeting agreed timelines.

3)  Sometimes slip-shod work performance.

I would suggest very strongly that through the consumers association and gov’t that a code of conduct be established and if on default penalties should apply, also they should all be licensed.

C) Georgetown seawall – I have written three times on this subject most recently last week. I wrote on the lawlessness that goes on at the seawall on a daily basis, trampolines, unruly vendors, loud, loud music etc., I said before now that there is a lot of space on the western side of the Georgetown seawall and therefore all the vendors, trampolines, and music should be moved down there. As I said before an enhancement programme was undertaken by the First Lady, she did a good job with millions of Guyanese taxpayers’ money on this project. I now have the feelings that this project was just a “show” by the First Lady. My question to her is – when last did you visit the Georgetown seawall to see the lawlessness that goes on there? She must go there on an unannounced visit. Editor, if you have the time you can also visit.

Sincerely,

Senior Citizen
