Add another ounce of gold to the growing palmarès of star cyclist, Jamual John.

Yesterday, the standout wheelsman once again showed his class by dominating a quality field of riders to finish atop the podium in the 10th edition of the Kadir Memorial Ounce of Gold race.

It was the second of back-to-back wins for John who returned from the USA racing circuit two weeks ago.

It is  also the third time he has won the race, the most lucrative cycling event locally.

The 24-year-old, who out throttled the same field last week in Berbice by five minutes to win the Wilbert Benjamin Memorial road event, mirrored the feat yesterday on the streets of the capital city.

John brought his talents back to Georgetown and soloed to victory in  yesterday’s 72-mile event which was staged from Thirst Park to Dora and back.

The hotly contested bunch sprint was won by the in form Paul DeNobrega with his Team Evolution club mate, Christopher Griffith close behind.

After John succeeded in his solo mission for the checkered flag, the hotly contested bunch sprint was won by the

In-form Paul DeNobrega with his Team Evolution club mate, Christopher Griffith close behind.

Curtis Dey finished a few bike lengths behind as did Paralympian, Walter Grant-Stuart and Alex Mendes in the Flying Stars Cycle Club organized fixture.

John, who successfully attacked the wounded peloton on the way down at Friendship, stated that the race was littered with several bikers attacking him since he was the marked man in the race.

He stated post-race that he was “feeling hurt” but filled up with some gels and energy bars and was able to recharge and solo to victory.

John, who is showing sublime late season form, will be looking to record an unprecedented three consecutive wins in all three counties when he journeys to Essequibo on Sunday for the next road race.
