The National Anthem is adequate enough and can take the place of prayers in schools

Dear Editor,

So many letters are being written to the newspapers about prayers in school, that certain religions are being left out. My humble opinion is that there should not be prayers recited to start the school day or any other functions or celebrations in the school system. Instead, the country’s National Anthem should be played or sung. The same goes for the National Assembly or any other public institutions. In North America, the National Anthem is played through the public address system at the start of each school day. If students wish to sing along, or be silent, that is their choice. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Rahman Mohammed
