(Trinidad Guardian) Just over three months after his wife and stepson were killed in Arima, Mario Gomez was fatally shot early on this morning at St John’s Road in St Augustine.

Residents reported hearing a series of gunshots at around 7.30 am and Gomez was found dead shortly after. He was on his way to a shop not too far from his home when he was ambushed by gunmen.

On July 14 at about 8.40 am Gomez’s common-law wife Dawn Mc Kenna, 40, was driving her Tucson motor vehicle east along the Arima Old Road. Her son, Jordan Mc Kenna, 19, and another man identified as Jeremy De Freitas, 18, were with her when their vehicle was blocked by a silver Tiida.

Two men came out of the vehicle and shot at the vehicle. All three victims got out of the SUV and attempted to run away but were shot and killed. A few minutes later, five residents of St John Road were killed and one was wounded.

Investigators are looking into possible links between Gomez’s murder and the deaths of Mc Kenna and her son.
