On Friday, for the first time, a graduation ceremony was held for beneficiaries of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT)’s National Training Project for Youth Empowerment (NTPYE) in Kwakwani, Region 10.

A release from the Ministry of Labour said that the ceremony saw 76 persons receiving accredited certification in courses such as Electrical Installation, Small Engine Repairs and Cosmetology.

Officials present included the Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton; the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BIT, Richard Maughn; BIT Technical Officer for Kwakwani, Pam Rambaran; BIT Officers, Earl Pestano and Debra McBeth; Vice-Chairman of the Kwakwani Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), Curt Simeon and General Manager of the Kwakwani Utilites Inc, David Adams.

As he noted that it is the first graduation in the area,  Hamilton committed that it won’t be the last. He said, “What I can commit to the NDC, to the leadership of Kwakwani, and by extension Ituni and Subdistrict Two…this will not be the last graduation”, the release said.
