Doctor found dead in Kingston clinic

Well known clinical physician Dr. Colin Roach was found dead in his Kingston office last night.

According to the police, the 49-year-old father of three was found lying in a pool of blood in his office by one of his employees who lives in the same building.

The employee and another worker have been detained by police for questioning.The doctor’s car and two phones were taken.

Roach, who resided in the Windsor Estates on the East Bank Demerara, owned and operated the International Medical Clinic, located in a three storied building at Lot 111 Duke Street, Kingston.

The Guyana Police Force said in a press release that the two workers reported that the office was closed around 15:00 hrs yesterday and they left for home.

It was further reported that around 20.00 hrs a male was seen exiting the building before returning about seven minutes later and re-entering the clinic. Two hours later the doctor’s vehicle left the location but the lights in the office were left on, which prompted one of his employees to call him. There was no response.

The employee living in the same building was contacted and he used his keys to enter the building and he found the doctor dead lying in a pool of blood.

Police were contacted and they have launched an investigation.
Dr. Roach was one of the first directors of the National Reference Laboratory. He was also one of the two doctors authorised to conduct medical examinations of persons applying for their US immigrant visas.
