DeSinco Limited is encouraged by the CXC results of these 20 students

Dear Editor,

Sometime in June and July of 2020 a number of students from several high schools had the ability to write ten or more subjects at CXC but did not have the resources. The Ministry of Education confirmed this to DeSinco Limited’s Managing Director, who approached the schools such as Queens’ College, Mackenzie High School, Berbice High School, Bishops’ High School, Saint Rose’s and Saint Joseph High. These schools recommended, with the Ministry of Education, some selected students who had the ability but did not have the means then. So, 20 students from seven high schools were given the opportunity to write 111 subjects at the cost of $1,145,098.

DeSinco Limited is encouraged by the results of the 20 students. There were 71 Grade Ones, 93 Grade Twos, 35 Grade Threes and some Grade Fours, too. Whilst Queen’s College topped the number of Grade Ones, all the schools performed well. This initiative started many years ago when the then Deputy Head of Queen’s College, Ms. Gem Rohlehr, requested assistance for a student to write 11 subjects at CXC. The student returned with 11 Grade ones and topped the Caribbean. She returned to Guyana and served. DeSinco Limited will always help through our CSR fund in sports or education as we see fit. DeSinco Ltd., would like to remind students and teachers that most qualified Guyanese of the past and present were rounded in the academics, sports, and religion.

Sincerely,
Frank De Abreu
