A Guyhoc Park taxi driver is now dead after he reportedly lost control of his car while driving along the Marudi Public Road, Soesdyke-Linden Highway yesterday morning.

The accident left Mark Cameron, 29 dead, while three other persons were hospitalized with injuries.

According to the Guyana Police Force, Cameron was driving a car, PVV 8399, with occupants Quakey Stanford, 38, of Lot 133 Guyhoc Park, Calldella Marshal, 25, of Lot 5 Stevedore Housing Scheme, and Shemika Richards, 23, of Lot 83 Laing Avenue East Ruimveldt.

The police said that they were proceeding at a fast rate of speed in the northern direction along the western side of the road around 09:10 hrs when Cameron reportedly lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the car toppled and Cameron fell out. He was then picked up in an unconscious condition, while the other occupants were conscious. The police said that the four persons were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where Cameron was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. Stanford, Marshal and Richards sustained injuries about their bodies. They are presently receiving treatment.
